good old fashioned planners

I am old fashioned when it comes to keeping a calendar. I love to write down everything in my planner and notebooks  - from dates to "to-dos" - and cross them off when completed. :)
It is about that time to order a new planner for the new year and I love how creative so many are getting with the designs, photos, and quotes throughout them.  It makes it difficult to choose!

Here are a few of my favorites...

Kate Spade

Whitney English Day Designer
Erin Condren Life Planner

Brittany Fuson Paper
2013-2014 Lilly Pulitzer Jumbo Agenda - Lucky Charms Navy
Lilly Pulitzer

As I have mentioned before I love Sugar Paper LA and I am just so excited they are teaming up with Target! In stores and online now - for just a short period!

Happy Monday and planning!

calling all superheroes

Sorry I have been a little MIA lately. I just finished a big event for work.... and I thought I would share it and the great cause I work for with all of you!

Register for the Superhero Run

This past weekend we hosted our very first Superhero Run at CITYCENTRE Houston! We had over 600 little and big superheroes out to run/walk in either the 5k or 1k. Through this event we raised $90,000 alone which will help us to be a hero for even more of Harris County's littlest victims. It was just so much fun and the little superheroes were just too cute!

A huge thank you to the team below and many others that helped put it all together!!

Jeff Cotner, Sonya Galvan, Angie Henderson and me (it was very windy & cold...please excuse the hair :))
You can see all of the pictures by clicking here

For those of you that don't know I work at Child Advocates, Inc. in Houston as the Special Events Manager. I love my job! Everyday is different and everyday the work I do contributes to raising funds and awareness for Harris County's abused and neglected children who would otherwise not have a voice. Child Advocates recruits, trains, and supports volunteer advocates that speak up for children that are in foster care. These advocates remain the one constant in that child's life while finding them a safe and permanent home where they can thrive. I urge you to visit our website to find out more about how you can get involved in our mission here in Houston or at a local chapter near you.

Happy Friday!!

hey there pumpkin!

I love Trader Joe's even more than I did before! Right now they have Pumpkin EVERYTHING and I just happen to love EVERYTHING Pumpkin! :)

Here are a few of things I picked up and can't wait to try!
Pumpkin Cranberry Crisps
I think I am most excited about these! These crisps are such a great appetizer served with goat cheese!
Pumpkin Ice Cream
This stuff sells out FAST and there is a reason for it! So good :)

Pumpkin Cheesecake
We LOVE cheesecake and put a little pumpkin in it...that much better.
Pumpkin Spice Coffee
This is another hard one to find, but so worth the search.
Organic Canned Pumpkin
TJ Organic Canned Pumpkin comes from a family owned farm in Oregon's Willamette Valley (which just so happens to be where our favorite Pinot Noir comes from as well!) I will use it to make pumpkin bread and as a little extra treat for Betsey (our boxer).

Pumpkin Spice Granola
This is delicious way to change up your morning routine for the Fall.

This wine doesn't contain pumpkin, but it is such a great TJ find I had to share! Under $10 this TJ exclusive is a must for your cart.

They also have the cutest pumpkin branches and regular pumpkins at great prices for fall decorating

Happy Wednesday!

boo!

I was sooo excited when I was "boo'ed" a couple of weeks ago at work! It is such a fun little tradition to be added to the Halloween season and can be done at work or in your neighborhood!

My "boo" from work

--Here is how it works--
You have been BOOED!  Please keep it going by following these directions:
1. Enjoy your treat
2. Place the "BOO" sign on your front door or visible in a window
3. Within 2 days, make 2 copies of this note and "boo" sign, and make up 2 treats
4. Secretly deliver to 2 neighbors/friends without a "BOO".
5. Keep an eye on nearby front doors & see how far & fast it spreads by Halloween.

I got so excited about being "boo'ed" and "booing" some co-coworkers I had to pass it along to some neighbors as well!

Here are the two baskets I made for them...

I found most of my "goodies" at Michael's and used a free online printable for the instructions and boo signs.

I included a ghost cookie cutter, an orange & black polka dotted ramekin and lots of candy! I rolled the instructions up with a bow and lined the pail with polka dotted and black tissue paper.

close up of the buckets I used - one was a cat and the other a bat.

When I went to search the Internet for a cute printable I was amazed with how many options there were! I am late to the game :)
I decided to go with these (pictured below) as they were my favorite I saw :) but there are plenty of others that you can choose from!

Here is the poem on the instruction sheet that I think is so cute:

The air is cool, the season fall,
Soon Halloween will come to all.
Ghosts and goblins, spooks galore...
Tricky witches at your door.
The spooks are after things to do,
In fact a spook brought this "Boo" to you!
The excitement comes when friends like you,
Copy this note and make it two.
We'll all have smiles upon our faces,
No one will know who "BOO"ed whose places!
Just two short days to work your spell, Keep it secret, hide it well.
Please join the fun, the seasons here.
Just spread these "BOO's" and Halloween cheer!

I hope that you will consider doing this!  Be creative! The treats you give can range from cute cups with candy to fun Halloween baskets with decorations. Here are some great coupons to use at Michael's this week. The $1 buckets at Target are another great place to find goodies! :) It really is so fun to give to others and watch it spread!

Happy Monday!

blue leaf

YALL! I am so excited about this! Blue Leaf - a super cute interiors store - has re-opened in one of my most favorite houses in Houston at 2303 South Boulevard!

So cute right!?!

I was able to stop by on Friday and check it out...here are a few pics of just some of their beautiful things. You will definitely need to go see them all yourself :)

front entry room

an amazing card selection under the stairs

on the second floor they have bath accessories, beautiful linens and pillows

One of my favorite spots is the courtyard between the house and the back barn. Everytime I drive down Greenbriar I think about how fun it would be to have a party here under the black and white awning.

LOVE IT!

In the barn they have quite a bit of their seasonal decor, baby clothes, children's toys and even more housewares and furniture.

It is just so cute! I hope all of my Houston friends go check them out! They are having a soft re-opening tomorrow! :) You can follow them on Facebook here for updates on new arrivals!

Happy Sunday!
