be thankful

I love the tradition of going around the table and sharing what you are most thankful for at Thanksgiving. When I have a large enough family of my own to host I will place a card at each setting, have everyone write what they are most thankful for and then place it on a thankful tree.

Below are a few free printables that I have found over the years that I love and thought I would share with all of you so that you can use them for your Thanksgiving dinners.

I also thought this was a neat idea...print out a "Thankful For" page and then have the family write what they are most thankful for. It would be neat to save the pages through the years and be able to look back at the memories.

Although we should be thankful everyday, Thanksgiving is an extra special time to spend with our families and truly be grateful for the many blessings in our lives.

Have a great weekend!

thanksgiving place settings

We get to have our first of three Thanksgivings this weekend! I love Thanksgiving and all of the traditions that are different at each one so I don't mind. :)

Here are a few of my favorite place settings for a Thanksgiving table:

Gilded leaf place cards.

This last photos are from my mother in law's last dinner party in Lake Toxaway :)

She used the cutest little pumpkins with her guest's names attached to them and leaves with other foliage from right outside her back door for the centerpiece.

I hope you all have a Happy Friday and a great weekend!

hey there pumpkin!

I love Trader Joe's even more than I did before! Right now they have Pumpkin EVERYTHING and I just happen to love EVERYTHING Pumpkin! :)

Here are a few of things I picked up and can't wait to try!
Pumpkin Cranberry Crisps
I think I am most excited about these! These crisps are such a great appetizer served with goat cheese!
Pumpkin Ice Cream
This stuff sells out FAST and there is a reason for it! So good :)

Pumpkin Cheesecake
We LOVE cheesecake and put a little pumpkin in it...that much better.
Pumpkin Spice Coffee
This is another hard one to find, but so worth the search.
Organic Canned Pumpkin
TJ Organic Canned Pumpkin comes from a family owned farm in Oregon's Willamette Valley (which just so happens to be where our favorite Pinot Noir comes from as well!) I will use it to make pumpkin bread and as a little extra treat for Betsey (our boxer).

Pumpkin Spice Granola
This is delicious way to change up your morning routine for the Fall.

This wine doesn't contain pumpkin, but it is such a great TJ find I had to share! Under $10 this TJ exclusive is a must for your cart.

They also have the cutest pumpkin branches and regular pumpkins at great prices for fall decorating

Happy Wednesday!

boo!

I was sooo excited when I was "boo'ed" a couple of weeks ago at work! It is such a fun little tradition to be added to the Halloween season and can be done at work or in your neighborhood!

My "boo" from work

--Here is how it works--
You have been BOOED!  Please keep it going by following these directions:
1. Enjoy your treat
2. Place the "BOO" sign on your front door or visible in a window
3. Within 2 days, make 2 copies of this note and "boo" sign, and make up 2 treats
4. Secretly deliver to 2 neighbors/friends without a "BOO".
5. Keep an eye on nearby front doors & see how far & fast it spreads by Halloween.

I got so excited about being "boo'ed" and "booing" some co-coworkers I had to pass it along to some neighbors as well!

Here are the two baskets I made for them...

I found most of my "goodies" at Michael's and used a free online printable for the instructions and boo signs.

I included a ghost cookie cutter, an orange & black polka dotted ramekin and lots of candy! I rolled the instructions up with a bow and lined the pail with polka dotted and black tissue paper.

close up of the buckets I used - one was a cat and the other a bat.

When I went to search the Internet for a cute printable I was amazed with how many options there were! I am late to the game :)
I decided to go with these (pictured below) as they were my favorite I saw :) but there are plenty of others that you can choose from!

Here is the poem on the instruction sheet that I think is so cute:

The air is cool, the season fall,
Soon Halloween will come to all.
Ghosts and goblins, spooks galore...
Tricky witches at your door.
The spooks are after things to do,
In fact a spook brought this "Boo" to you!
The excitement comes when friends like you,
Copy this note and make it two.
We'll all have smiles upon our faces,
No one will know who "BOO"ed whose places!
Just two short days to work your spell, Keep it secret, hide it well.
Please join the fun, the seasons here.
Just spread these "BOO's" and Halloween cheer!

I hope that you will consider doing this!  Be creative! The treats you give can range from cute cups with candy to fun Halloween baskets with decorations. Here are some great coupons to use at Michael's this week. The $1 buckets at Target are another great place to find goodies! :) It really is so fun to give to others and watch it spread!

Happy Monday!

save vs. splurge

When perusing walmart.com for some camo attire for the ranch - yes Walmart - I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this puffer jacket! It looks so similar to the J.Crew vest! It does not have as much detail and it is printed, not fabric, but for $16...you can't beat it...and the J.Crew version is currently sold out! It could be pretty cute monogrammed too :)

Happy Thursday!
